Hood Milk Bottle is installed in Boston.

April 20, 1977

Artist: Arthur Gagner. The 40-foot-tall wood and plaster milk bottle was built as an ice cream stand on Route 44 in Taunton in 1934. After the restaurant closed, it was purchased and refurbished by the Hood Milk Company and brought by barge to the site of the Children’s Museum at 308 Congress Street. The structure is rebuilt in 2007, and is now the site of a Sullivan’s restaurant.. If filled, it would hold 58,630 gallons of milk.
